Electrochemical behavior with and without thepresence of hardening phase in ferritic stainless steel

Résumé :

The ferritic stainless steel has low cost compared withthe austenitic, duplex (ferritic-austenitic) and martensitic stainless steel, our study in the present works its electrochemica behavior with and without the presence of hardening intermetallic phase in the solution of 3w% NaCl for theapplication at the room temperature. After OCP (open circuit potential) and LP (linear polarization) tests, the free potential’s sample with the presence of hardening phase showed more negativity compared with the base metal, and the linear polarization curves showed that the corrosion current density significantly increased with the appearance of hardening phase
